Slowing down sales of iPhoneX negatively affects Samsung too
Recently, Apple slowed down the sales for its iPhoneX, however, this decision not only affected Apple but also had an effect on Samsung.
Apple’s iPhoneX sales have been causing troubles for its rival Samsung as well, since Apple relies on Samsung for the phone’s display panels. Since Apple decided to cut down production of iPhoneX after slowing the sales, Samsung is now looking for other buyers for its OLED displays that were originally intended for iPhoneX.
Apple dependent on Samsung for its new iPhone
According to a report from Nikkei Asian Review, Samsung was counting on other smartphone manufacturers to initiate the use of expensive OLED displays, however, this things didn’t happen this way. Other smartphone manufactures were hesitant to use the OLED panels, which are greatly expensive than the common LED display panels.
Meanwhile, Chinese firms are making cheaper OLED panels that are even more low in prices. While Apple was paying between $120 and $130 for Samsung’s OLED panels, the left over panels now can prove to be a significant loss for the Korean tech giant as well, reported Mashable.
