Muhammad Irfan Moton, Chairman, Site Association of Industry here on Saturday expressed grave concern on the recent forecast by Pakistan Meteorological Department that during this monsoon season Pakistan will receive 15 percent more rainfall as compared to the last year.
He said that last year no precautionary measures were taken in advance which resulted in devastation of floods and nearly whole country suffered a lot. He stressed that this year immediate measures should be taken on war footing basis regarding rain emergency. He was of the view that he being well aware of the issues and problems of Site industrialists specifically at the moment the drainage system in the area is not up to the mark and roads are also in dilapidated conditions and require immediate repair. Encroachments are increasing rapidly.
He said the rainwater if not properly drained out, the industries which are already facing numerous problems would not be able to keep the wheel running causing multiple problems of loss of national exchequer, unemployment and serious blow to the economic growth. He stressed upon the relevant authorities to gear up their efforts for improving the infrastructure in Site area and augmenting the cleaning of Nullahs and improvement of drainage system so that the industries could run smoothly.
He also stressed that Provincial Minister for Industries & Commerce should issue directions to the concerned authorities to take cognisance of the deteriorating infrastructure and take immediate measures to improve the quality of roads on priority basis. Site Association demanded Governor Sindh, CM Sindh, to issue strict instructions to all concerned for taking necessary measures for start of immediate measures for the revamping of road network and drainage system, so that smooth economic activities are carried out in the Site area which is contributing enormous share of revenue and providing ample employment opportunities to the people.
