There is no sectarianism in Pakistan, but Surjeets and Sarbajeets spread all over the country were perpetrating bloodbaths on Pakistani soil, leader of the Tehreek Nifaz-e-Fiqah Jaffaria Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi said on Sunday.
The government, he said, had failed to tighten the noose around their necks. This was stated by him in a special message on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hazarat Ali Akbar (AS) which is being observed throughout the country on Monday.
"Promoting terrorism in the name of sectarianism is the agenda of world powers to destabilise Pakistan," the message quoted him as saying. Terming the fulfilment of colonial objectives and the "war for bread and foreign aid as sectarianism is tantamount to achieving the objectives of enemies, who want to prove the creation of Pakistan a mistake". Expressing grave concern over the state of affairs in the Muslim world in general and Pakistan in particular, Agha Moosavi said that the country was the target of colonial powers and no human being "is safe from terrorists".
Criticising the media outlets, he said that the national media was trying its utmost to give such incidents of terrorism the colour of sectarianism, linguistic and ethnic strife, adding that the media was giving full coverage to banned groups, presenting them as "champions of peace".
He said: "The enemy is trying...to pitch various schools of thoughts against each other and fan riots in the country."
He said terming the war of interests being fought by banned groups as terrorism itself "is an act of terrorism". Therefore, Pakistan would have to drive out "elements who are playing in the hands of their foreign masters along with their mentors to turn Pakistan into a hub of peace".
Agha Moosavi said that at present the whole world "is surrounded by the oppression and brutality of colonial powers, and Pakistan is their particular target".
Criticising the government, he said that at a time like this the federal government and the opposition "are busy in besting each other".
He urged the authorities concerned to take concrete steps to end drone attacks, targeted killings, suicide attacks and terrorism, saying it was in everyone's interest.
