MQM leader Altaf Hussain on Sunday contacted Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on phone, reiterating his party's support and called for amending laws toenable expatriates to take part in the election process. The two leaders exchanged views on the current domestic political situation.
The MQM leader stressed the need for addressing all challenges being faced by the country in a democratic manner and said: "The Prime Minister should work to alleviate the people's issues. MQM will stand by him." He said that the government should accelerate efforts to amend the existing law, allowing Pakistanis with dual citizenship to participate in elections. Prime Minister Raja praised Altaf Hussain's role for democracy and said that his government would soon start legislation in this regard.
