A petition moved in the Supreme Court on Tuesday urged the apex court to proceed against 61 people, including TV anchorpersons, under contempt of court ordinance 2004, for allegedly showing disrespect to the Chief Justice of Pakistan and other judges of higher judiciary.
Syeda Feroza Rubab, former finance secretary, Lahore High Court Bar filed the contempt petition under Article 204 of the Constitution read with Sections 3&4 of the Contempt of Court Ordinance 2004. The petitioner made Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and anchorpersons and CEOs of various private TV channels respondent. The petition has also made editors, publishers and printers of several newspapers respondents.
