Water inflow in four live rivers of the country Indus, Kabul, Jhelum and Chenab continues to increase since beginning of this month. According to Flood Forecasting Centre report, inflow in river Indus increased to 1,96.000 cusecs on Wednesday against Sunday's inflow of 1,36,800 cusecs. Irsa is releasing 1,55,000 cusecs downstream the Tarbela dam and storing 40,000 cusecs in the reservoir.
The report said that water inflow in river Kabul had gone up to 78,000 cusecs and reached the level of medium flood near Nowshera. The water flow in river Jhelum has risen to 48,000 cusecs, of which 35,000 cusecs is being discharged downstream the Mangla dam, while 13,000 cusecs water is being retained in the dam to fill the reservoir.
The water inflow in river Chenab has risen to 69,000 cusecs at Marala headworks. The authorities are putting all the inflow of the river into the irrigation canal network across the country. The report said that water supply in river Indus has significantly increased from Kalabagh to Kotri. 2,10,000 cusecs water is inflowing at Kalabagh dam on the mighty river, 2,33,600 cusecs at Chashma, 1,94,100 at Taunsa, 1,39,900 cusecs at Guddu, 88,300 cusecs at Sukkur and 20,300 cusecs.
Meanwhile meteorological department has said that seasonal low lies over North Balochistan. Yesterday's trough of westerly wave over North of Iran today lies over northern parts of Afghanistan. Moist current from Arabian sea is reaching Punjab up to 3000 feet. In its forecast for Thursday, Met office said that mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, isolated dust-thunderstorm with light rain is likely in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Sargodha , Gujranwala, Lahore Divisions, Lower Sindh and Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan.
