ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said the aim of targeted lockdown is to isolate maximum Covid-19 infected cases. Chairing a briefing at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) in Islamabad, he said here is a positive difference seen in the urban areas with maximum compliance of wearing masks in public places.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has overtaken Mexico and reached 13th position globally on account of most-affected Covid-19 countries with 186,659 coronavirus cases, and 3,719 Covid-19 deaths.

According to the latest figures issued by the authorities, Sindh is on top with 72,656 cases, followed by Punjab with 68,308 cases, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 22,663 cases, the Islamabad Capital Territory 11,219 cases, Balochistan 9,587 cases, Gilgit-Baltistan 1,328 cases, and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 892 cases.

Of 3,719 deaths, Punjab is on top with 1,495 deaths, followed by Sindh 1,124 deaths, 843 in KP, 102 in Balochistan, 101 in Islamabad, 22 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 23 in the AJK.

According to authorities, 73,471 patients have so far recovered from the disease.

Sindh on Tuesday reported 1,564 new cases of the coronavirus taking the provincial tally to 72,656.

According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the province also reported 21 new deaths in the last 24 hours to take the death toll from the virus to 1,124.

The Punjab has reported 1,495 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday taking the provincial total to 68,308.

According to The Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department the province recorded 60 more deaths from Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, which took the provincial tally to 1,595.

The KPK Health Department has reported 636 new coronavirus cases taking the total to 22,663.

The province has also reported 22 more deaths taking the total to 843.

Balochistan has reported a daily decline in the number of COVID-19 cases for the third time, according to the provincial health department.

"About 112 cases of COVID-19 cases were reported in the province yesterday, 147 cases were reported two days ago, and 166 cases of coronavirus surfaced three days ago," the Balochistan Health Department highlighted.

The total number of coronavirus cases has reached 9,587, whereas, 3,670 people have recovered in the province so far.
