LAHORE: The Food Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday allocated quotas to different districts of the province regarding wheat that it will receive from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage & Services Corporation (PASSCO).
An MoU was signed between the KPK Food Department and the PASSCO a few days back by virtue of which PASSCO will provide 100,000 metric tons of grains to KPK. "We hope that lifting of allocated wheat by the KPK Food Department will start in next two to three days," said PASSCO GM Field Muzahir Iqbal while talking to Business Recorder on Thursday.
"We are fully prepared and instructions have been passed on to respective wheat procurement centers to ship the agreed quota of grains as soon as transport from the KPK food department arrives," Muzahir added. He hoped that timely release of wheat to the KPK will ease the prices of wheat and atta (flour) in the open market of the KPK.
