KARACHI: Directorate Intelligence and Investigation (DI&I), Inland Revenue, Karachi has confiscated huge quantity of smuggled cigarettes stored in a warehouse located at KBX Pakistan Railways.
According to details, action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that substantial quantities of smuggled cigarettes were stored in a warehouse at the aforesaid place. Reacting on this information, a team of Directorate raided at a warehouse located at KBX Pakistan Railways Karachi and recovered 30 cartons or 300,000 sticks of smuggled cigarettes.
Consequent upon recovery, the smuggled goods have been taken into custody and shifted to the state warehouse. The value and duty /taxes of detained stock involving Federal Excise Duty and Sales Tax are estimated to Rs. 1 million. Further investigation is underway.
