PM approaches UNSG over India's issuance of domicile certificates to 25,000 Indians
- The PM tweeted that he is also approaching other world leaders to stop India.
Prime Minister Imran Khan announced on Tuesday that he has approached United Nations Secretary General (UNSC) over India's illegal issuance of domicile certificates to 25,000 Indian nationals.
In a tweet, the PM said first India illegally annexed Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) last year, and now it has issued domicile certificates of IoK to thousands of Indian nationals.
He said both these are in violation of UNSC resolutions and international law.
He further said that India should be stopped, adding that he has approached UNSC and is also reaching out to other world leaders. "India must be stopped from this unacceptable path that further usurps the legal and internationally guaranteed rights of the Kashmiri people and seriously imperils peace and security in South Asia," he tweeted.
Pakistan terms India's domicile law in IoK 'reprehensible'
Last week, India granted domicile certificates of IoK to thousands of Indian nationals. The certificate, which is a sort of citizenship right, entitles a person to residency and government jobs in the region.
Till last year, this was only reserved for the local population.
