KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 141,939 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,939 tonnes of import cargo and 46,000 tonnes of export cargo including 4,875 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 95,939 tonnes comprised of 48,665 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,365 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 33,909 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 46,000 tonnes comprised of 14,789 tonnes of containerised cargo; 400 tonnes of general cargo; 30,679 tonnes of bulk cargo and 132 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,875 containers comprising of 3,576 containers of import and 1,299 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 774 of 20's and 1,134 of 40's loaded while 120 of 20's and 207 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 411 of 20's and 209 of 40's loaded containers while 08 of 20's and 231 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Kota Naked, Ubena, Al-Salam-II and Ceylon Princess carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels carrying containers, oil tanker, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 186,003 tonnes comprising of 170,803 tonnes of import cargo and 15,200 tonnes of export cargo including 1,850 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 170,803 tonnes includes 60,900 tonnes of coal; 61,977 tonnes of LNG; 10,000 tonnes of gasoline; 4,700 tonnes of palm oil; 13,276 tonnes of soyabean and 19,950 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 15,200 tonnes includes 15,200 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,850 containers comprising of 1,050 containers import and 800 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were three ships namely Agamemnon, Marsngas Asclepius and IVS Naruo carrying containers, LNG and coal respectively sail out to sea on Tuesday afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LNG, gasoline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen vessels viz. Express Rome, MOL Courage, Perth-1, Dona Bibi, Kamila Kosan, Tomson Gas, Gas Amazon, Hanfia Arctic, Al-Soor-II, Torm Asfrid, Shalamar, Chemroad Lily, Silver London and Bernora carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, gasoline, crude oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. MSC Lisbon, Perth-1, Tomson Gas and Gas Amazon carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There is one ship namely MSC Lisbon carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely X-Press Guernsey carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
