Currently on screen as the villainous Shanzay in Pyar Ke Sadqey, Yashma Gill is all set to appear in an entirely new persona in Gustakh this month opposite veteran actor Faysal Qureshi.
As Ania, Yashma will be portraying an innocent and sweet girl who is overshadowed by others and struggling for her love and loved ones in the play. Apart from Faysal Qureshi, she will be sharing the screen with Faryal Mehmood and Ali Ansari.
Talking about the new drama, Yashma said, "I am so happy I got to work alongside this amazing cast - it was a wonderful experience! Playing this role has been really enlightening for me and I can't wait for everyone to finally watch Ania's story."
Written by Saima Akram Chaudhary of Suno Chanda fame, the drama is directed by Najaf Bilgrami. The play is slated to air from Thursday, July 9, 2020 on Express TV.
The character marks a shift for Yashma after negative roles in Alif followed by Pyar Ke Sadqey.
"Ania is an extremely positive girl," Yashma told BR Lifestyle. "She is well educated, headstrong, and knowledgeable. She isn't that expressive but she is super caring and loving, someone who is forgiving and always likes to look for the best in people."
Working on the sets of Gustakh was also an enriching experience in itself, added Yashma, where she observed the masters working their craft. "Faysal Qureshi is an institution of talent. Every scene that I got to perform with him, I felt like I lived it. He takes you in a completely different zone."
"As for [director] Najaf Bilgrami, he is so dedicated and passionate about his work, which also made us all be on our toes even though we were already super motivated," Yashma said. "If our energy levels went down a little bit, he made sure we picked ourselves up and came through."
"Working with these talented people and getting to perform with them, I got to learn a lot watching them play their roles and work their craft."
