Unknown gunmen reportedly shot and killed 18 people and injured two others in Kech Turbat on Friday. Reports reaching here said that 20 people were eating their lunch at a roadside restaurant when unidentified six armed men riding three bikes came there and opened fire on them. Eighteen were killed on the spot while the remaining two received serious bullet wounds, police sources said. The attackers managed to escape.
Official sources said the victims were residents of Punjab and wanted to reach Europe via Iran. When contacted a district administration officer namely Maqbool said that they have received information about the incident. 'We have dispatched law enforcement personnel team to Hor Shorli area of Gaddan, from where the reports we received about the occurrence of this incident, he said. He, however, avoided telling further details.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari has condemned the incident of firing on a bus by terrorists in Turbat resulting in loss of precious lives. The President condoled with the families which lost their loved ones in the act of terrorism. The President directed the authorities to take strict action against the elements behind the incident.
