ISLAMABAD: The Consu-mer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation nationwide has registered an increase of 8.6 percent on year-on-year (YoY) basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 8.2 percent in May, and eight percent in June 2019. According to CPI inflation related data released, here on Wednesday by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.8 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.3 percent in May, and an increase of 0.5 in June 2019.
The CPI inflation urban, increased by 7.6 on YoY basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 7.3 percent in May, and 8.1 percent in June 2019.
On month-on-month (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.7 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.3 percent in May, and an increase of 0.3 percent in June 2019.
Rural CPI increased by 10 percent on YoY basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 9.7 percent in May, and 7.9 percent in June 2019.
On MoM basis, it increased by one percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.3 percent in May, and an increase of 0.7 percent in June 2019.
The Sensitive Price Index (SPI)-based inflation on YoY increased by 11.5 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 11 percent in May, and an increase of 9.3 percent in June 2019.
On MoM basis, it increased by 1.4 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 2.2 percent a month earlier and an increase of 0.9 percent in June 2019.
The Wholesales Price Index (WPI)-based inflation on YoY basis, increased by 0.9 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 1.5 percent a month earlier, and an increase of 14 percent in June 2019.
The WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 0.3 percent in June 2020 as compared to a decrease of 2.1 percent a month earlier, and an increase of 0.2 percent in June 2019.
Measured by non-food non-energy, Urban CPI increased by 6.5 percent on YoY basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 6.3 percent in May, and 7.3 percent in June 2019.
On MoM basis, it increased by 0.4 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.4 percent in the previous month, and an increase of 0.2 percent in June 2019.
Measured by non-food non-energy, Rural CPI increased by 8.8 percent on YoY basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 8.4 percent in the previous month, and 6.7 percent in June 2019.
On MoM basis, it increased by 0.7 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.4 percent in the previous month, and an increase of 0.3 percent in June 2019.
Measured by 20 percent weighted trimmed mean, Urban CPI increased by 7.4 percent on YoY basis in June 2020 as compared to 6.7 percent in the previous month, and by 7.3 percent in June 2019. On MoM basis, it increased by 0.4 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.4 percent in May, and an increase of 0.4 percent in June 2019. Measured by 20 percent weighted trimmed mean, Rural CPI increased by 9.9 percent on YoY basis in June 2020 against 8.9 percent in May, and by 7.2 percent in June 2019.
On MoM basis, it increased by 0.9 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.5 percent in May, and an increase of 0.7 percent in June 2019.
On MoM basis, prices of following food items witnessed an increased: eggs 21.71 percent, tomatoes 13.09 percent, wheat flour 11.92 percent, wheat 10.83 percent, condiments and spices 5.44 percent, fresh vegetables 4.05 percent, potatoes two percent, and chicken 1.54 percent.
Prices of following food items witnessed a decline on MoM basis: onions 17.07 percent, pulse gram 5.84 percent, fresh fruits 4.36 percent, besan 4.18 percent, masoor 3.57 percent, gur 3.08 percent, maash 2.98 percent, moong 2.63 percent, and gram whole 1.06 percent.
On MoM basis, prices of following non-food items witnessed an increased: cotton cloth 1.76 percent, while prices of motor fuel registered a decline of 7.29 percent, liquefied hydrocarbons 5.46 percent decline, and construction input items cost declined by 0.35 percent.
On YoY basis, prices of following food items increased: potatoes 72.01 percent, moong 71.07 percent, maash 46.1 percent, eggs 44.85 percent, butter 37.15 percent, masoor 34.76 percent, beans 30.73 percent, condiments and spices 29.84 percent, vegetable ghee 24.79 percent, wheat flour 24.45 percent, wheat 22.13 percent, cooking oil 20.19 percent, chicken 18.55 percent, besan 15.76 percent, mustard oil 15.67 percent, gur 15.11 percent, and sugar 14.67 percent. While onion price witnessed a reduction of 35.62 percent, and tomatoes price reduced by 22.87 percent.
Prices of following non-food items witnessed an increase: gas charges 54.84 percent, woolen cloth 13.15 percent, construction input items 12.25 percent, and furniture and furnishing 10.45 percent.
While prices of following non-food items witnessed a reduction: motor fuel 28.03 percent, electricity charges 3.54 percent, and liquefied hydrocarbons 3.45 percent.
The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for June, 2020 witnessed a reduction of 0.32 percent over May 2020, while it registered an increase of 0.93 percent over June 2019. Prices of following commodities on account of WPI on MoM basis, increased: spices 48.37 percent, eggs 25.61 percent, furnace oil 21.22 percent, vegetables 19.09 percent, wheat 14.68 percent, wheat flour 11.59 percent, plastic products 6.8 percent, potatoes 4.8 percent, raw tobacco 3.89 percent, poultry 2.98 percent, and rice 1.16 percent.
Price of following items on account of WPI registered a reduction on MoM basis: kerosene oil 25.04 percent, fiber crops 15.52 percent, diesel oil 10.48 percent, motor spirit 9.06 percent, fresh fruits 7.77 percent, maize 4.62 percent, and pulses 2.47 percent.
On account of WPI, prices of following items on YoY basis witnessed an increase: potatoes 95.57 percent, spices 65.03 percent, eggs 47.77 percent, dyeing material 34.65 percent, liquefied natural gas 28.97 percent, raw tobacco 25.39 percent, wheat 23.88 percent, cotton seeds 23.25 percent, wheat flour 22.87 percent, vegetable ghee 22.03 percent, poultry 20.93 percent, pulses 20.23 percent, and refined sugar 14.73 percent. While prices of following items on account of WPI, on YoY basis, registered a reduction: kerosene oil 63.88 percent, diesel oil 48.72 percent, furnace oil 38.51 percent, motor spirit 35.15 percent, and bajra 15.22 percent.
