KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 101,893 tonnes of cargo comprising 44,540 tonnes of import cargo and 57,353 tonnes of export cargo including 4,501 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 44,540 tonnes comprised of 18,514 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,013 tonnes of general cargo; 3,688 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 16,325 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 57,353 tonnes comprised of 22,913 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of general cargo; 34,140 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,501 containers comprising of 1,364 containers of import and 3,137 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 423 of 20's and 352 of 40's loaded while 39 of 20's and 99 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 656 of 20's and 330 of 40's loaded containers while 603 of 20's and 609 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely CMA CGM Litani, Hyundai Colombo, Argent Bloom and Sereno carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessel carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 142,360 tonnes comprising of 105,462 tonnes of import cargo and 36,898 tonnes of export cargo including 1,974 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 105,462 tonnes includes 53,373 tonnes of coal; 31,372 tonnes of LNG; 10,450 tonnes of palm oil; 7,016 tonnes of soyabean; 2,643 tonnes of LPG and 608 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,898 tonnes includes 36,898 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,974 containers comprising of 32 containers import and 1,942 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were two ships namely MSC Jeans and Jeppenses Maersk carrying containers sail out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely Darya Tiana, White Purl and Glory Harvest carrying coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, cement, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Express Rome, BBC Song, PAC, Alexandra, Kamila Kosan, Hanfia Arctic, Shalamar, Al-Salam-II and Chemroad Singapore carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, chemical, gasoline, gas oil, crude oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. ER Yokohama, MSC Paris and Chemroad Siris carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday.

There are three ships namely MSC Pina, MSC Marianna and Maersk Hartford carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
