Indonesian low-cost carrier, Lion Air is keen to commence operations in Pakistan, informed Indonesian Ambassador Iwan Amri.

While explaining the possibility of flight operations between the two countries, Amri said Lion Air of Indonesia wanted to start flights from Pakistan, and negotiations with the aviation officials were already underway. "Lion Air wants to start from three cities; Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. The plan is still on the table. Let us hope that negotiations between the Lion Air officials and Pakistani aviation officials make some early headway," he said.

PT Lion Mentari Airlines, operating as Lion Air, is an Indonesian low-cost airline. Based in Jakarta, Lion Air is the country's largest privately run airline, and after AirAsia, it is the largest low-cost airline in Southeast Asia and the largest airline of Indonesia.

With Wings Air and Batik Air, Lion Group is the country's largest airline group. The airline operates domestic as well as international routes, which connects different destinations of Indonesia to Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, India, Japan, and Saudi Arabia as well as charter routes to Mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Macau,

Meanwhile, to a query regarding the ban on the PIA flights to Indonesia, the envoy said that they did not have any aviation contract with the PIA, therefore, the ban was not applicable.
