KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 92,524 tonnes of cargo comprising 45,790 tonnes of import cargo and 46,734 tonnes of export cargo including 5,095 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 45,790 tonnes comprised of 32,365 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,681 tonnes of general cargo; 1,893 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 7,851 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 46,734 tonnes comprised of 19,694 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,450 tonnes of general cargo and 18,590 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 5,095 containers comprising of 2,409 containers of import and 2,686 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 701 of 20's and 841 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 11 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 267 of 20's and 713 of 40's loaded containers while 303 of 20's and 445 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Saxonia, Paris Express, MT Karachi, Al-Mahboobah and Cyclades carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessel carrying oil tankers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 157,601 tonnes comprising of 66,893 tonnes of import cargo and 90,708 tonnes of export cargo including 2,640 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 66,893 tonnes includes 5,428 tonnes of coal; 17,500 tonnes of LNG; 11,000 tonnes of palm oil; 8,000 tonnes of soyabean; 11,000 tonnes of chemical and 13,965 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 90,708 tonnes includes 11,319 tonnes of cement; 43,194 tonnes of crude oil and 36,195 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,640 containers comprising of 735 containers import and 1,905 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were three ships namely Maersk Hartford, MSC Pina and Great Comfort carrying containers and coal respectively sail out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely IVS Nauro, Gulf Mews and Chembulk Singapore carrying cement, chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, soyabean, cement, LPG, LNG, crude oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. Express Rome, CMA CGM Ivanhoe, BBC Song, PAC Antares, Sunrise Jade, Alexandra, Chemroad Journey, Kamila Kosan, Bright Honor, Hanfia Arctic, Al-Salam-II, Gulf Horizon, Ventage Rider and SC Petrel carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, gasoline, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Robert Rickmers, Sunrise Jade, Bright Honor and SC Petrel carrying containers, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There is on ship namely Robert Rickmers carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
