Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) on Saturday announced its 'Long March' schedule against Nato supply resumption, according to which the march would commence from Lahore on Sunday (today) at 10am. The participants would make overnight stay at Gujrat and march towards Islamabad on Monday morning via Rawalpindi.
This was decided at the meeting of All Parties Conference (APC) held here at a local hall on Saturday and attended by representatives of as many as 50 political and religious parties. Among them eminent were Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, Ameer Jamaat-ud-Dawa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Lieutenant General Hameed Gul (Retd), Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahim, Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Khadim Hussain Dhillun, Allama Ibtisam Ilahi Zahir, Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar Ropri, Ameer Hamza, Qari Muhammad Yaqub, Maulana Abdur-Rauf Farooqui and Abdur Rahman Makki.
Talking to media persons, DPC chairman Maulana Sami-ul-Haq deplored that the US once again had openly flouted the security and autonomy of Pakistan by recent drone strikes in Waziristan. He lamented that the government had sold Pakistan's sovereignty and autonomy for $1.1 billion while the US and its allies were suffering a loss of billions of dollars per day.
He said the US had at once paid back Pakistan in shape of drone attacks and gifted Pakistan with 22 bodies including women and children. "Had the Parliament and the Supreme Court defended Pakistan, the situation would not have become so miserable," he added.
Maulana Sami-ul-Haq regretted that the DPC invited other political leaders including PML-N president Nawaz Sharif, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, JUI-F leader Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and others to come forward for the defence of the country but no one attended the APC. "If anyone wants to lead the movement, we are ready to work under his leadership," he said. He categorically denied the notion that the DPC was working under the patronage of military or secret agencies and had political objectives.
All Parties Conference (APC) held under the umbrella of Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) has come to an agreement on different issues regarding national autonomy, security and integrity. However, the priority would be given to get the US forces out of the region, vacated all air bases of Pakistan and blocked the drone attacks.
Earlier, Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan Syed Munawar Hasan addressing the APC warned that if the nation would not get united on the issue, Pakistan would become a slave. He deplored that the rulers had set aside the Parliament resolutions and ignored the apex court decisions. He strongly reacted to the statement of Rehman Malik saying the government itself never obeyed any law. He reiterated his demand that the government should pull out of war on terror and formulate an independent foreign policy. He said the country was being pushed toward anarchy in order to eliminate Pakistan's nuclear programme.
The host of the APC, Hafiz Saeed appealed to masses to get united to transform Pakistan into a real autonomous and sovereign country. Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, General Hameed Gul(r), Liaquat Baloch, Abdur-Rauf Farooqui, Ameer Hamza, Allama Ibtisam Ilahi Zaheer, Khadim Hussain Dhillun, Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar and others also spoke on the occasion.
