KARACHI: Capt (retd) A Moiz Khan, founder and former chairman of the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) and prominent industrialist was laid to rest at Paposh Nagar graveyard on Sunday.

Capt A Moiz Khan had been undergoing treatment in a hospital for a few days but due to heart failure on Saturday night he passed away.

Funeral prayers were offered at Madina Masjid Block B, North Nazimabad. Distinguished personalities of the city, business and political leaders offered condolences to Imran Moiz Khan, Faisal Moiz Khan, Waqas Moiz, Wahaj Moiz Khan and his family.

In the funeral prayers Dr Farooq Sattar, chief MQM Pakistan organisation rehabilitation committee, Syed Usman Ali, senior leader NKATI, president Naseem Akhtar, VP Fawad Elahi Shamsi, chief crime monitoring cell Akhtar Ismail, CEO North Karachi Industrial & Development Company Sadiq Muhammad, chairman board Faraz Mirza, Mohammad Farooq Khatura, Asadullah, president of North Nazimabad Gymkhana Feroz Alam Lari, president FBATI Abdullah Abid, Rehan Zeeshan, CEO FITE-DMC Babar Khan, Sheikh Tehseen Ahmed, DIG West Asif Qaimkhani, Aamir Chishti and distinguished personalities of the city participated. When Capt A Moiz Khan had ended his career at sea, he started his own business by establishing a factory in the newly developed Industrial Area at North Karachi. He started working to form an association in 1974 and by 1994 became the founding chairman of the North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry. The North Karachi Industrial Area's factories are 80 percent export-oriented.

He engaged over the years to lobby for proper allocation of resources for the industrial area and was a vocal critic of the load shedding and water shortages. United Business Group (UBG) Patron in Chief SM Muneer, Secretary General Zubair F Tufail, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Central Spokesperson Gulzar Feroze, Sindh Region Chairman Khalid Tawab, UBG Canada Chairman Naveed Bukhari, Abdul Sami Khan, President Kati Sheikh Umar Rehan, Shaheen Ilyas Sarwana, Abdul Rahim Janu, Mazhar Ali Nasir, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Tariq Haleem, Mohammad Hanif Gohar, Noor Ahmad Khan, Mumtaz Ahmed, Ahmad Chinoy, Yahya Polani, Ikram Rajput, Tariq Malik, Irfan Sarwana and other leaders of the UBG. UBG senior leader, Patron General North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry has offered prayers and condolences to the bereaved family on the demise of Captain A Moiz Khan.

In a joint statement UBG leaders express deep sorrow over the sad and untimely demise of Captain Moiz Khan. It said Captain Moiz Khan was one of the most important offspring of UBG and he was expert in his field.

The UBG leaders said that the demise of Captain Moiz Khan has come as a great shock to the industrialists and businessmen of Pakistan. Condolences to Captain Moiz's wife Mrs. Nargis Moiz Khan and his sons Faisal Moiz, Imran Moiz, Waqas Moiz and Wahaj Moiz on the demise of their father and prayed that Allah Almighty grant Captain Moiz Khan a high position in Paradise.
