Supreme Court will take up some highly important cases next week. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted five benches, including a larger and a special bench, at the principal seat to resume hearing of cases from Monday (July 9).
The first bench comprises Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Muhammad Athar Saeed; the second bench is composed of Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jillani, Justice Tariq Parvez and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar; and third bench is consisted of Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Gulzar Ahmed.
The fourth five-member special bench of Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa will resume hearing of the NRO implementation case. During the last hearing on June 27, the Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) was directed to seek instructions from incumbent Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on NRO implementation case. It expected that the new premier would be implementing court's directions in letter and in spirit.
The fifth larger bench led by Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan will hear the Memogate scandal case. In this regard, notices have been issued to all the parties of the case, including former Pakistani Ambassador to the USA Hussain Haqqani, to appear before the court.
According to cause lists, no application for adjournment through fax will be placed before the Court. If the counsel is unable to appear for any reason the Advocate-on-Record is required to argue the case. No adjournment on any ground would be allowed.
