KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Quetta on Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of hashish in the country from Afghanistan. According to the details, the action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that some unscrupulous elements were planning to smuggle substantial quantity of hashish in the country from Afghanistan.
Reacting on this information, a special team was constituted, which mounted stiff vigilance on the cargo vehicles coming from Afghanistan. Resultantly, a 10 wheeler truck was intercepted near the Chaman Border on Monday night (July 14) however, the truck driver and unknown suspects took the advantage of the darkness and managed to flee from the truck.
Meanwhile, a special team took the truck into custody and recovered huge quantity of hashish. Customs officials said that around one ton of hashish worth Rs. 20.7 million in the international market were recovered and the same were concealed in the hidden cavities of the truck.
