KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 140.551 tonnes of cargo comprising 111,008 tonnes of import cargo and 29,543 tonnes of export cargo including 2474 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 111,008 tonnes comprised of 17,924 tonnes of containerised cargo; 00 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 66,434 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 29,543 tonnes comprised of 9,433 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,660 tonnes of general cargo and 450 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 2,474 containers comprising of 1,638 containers of import and 836 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 174 of 20's and 515 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 216 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 234 of 20's and 162 of 40's loaded containers while 44 of 20's and 117 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ships carrying containers, and oil tankers sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessel carrying containers, clinkers, and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
