LETTER: It is quite unfortunate that the talks between Karachi Electric (KE) and federal government remained inconclusive. But the progress, however modest, is still promises an improvement in the electricity situation in country's largest city. The federal government needs to do whatever it can to add power supply to this city from the national grid. Meantime, the K-Electric must take all the needed steps towards enhancing its transmission capacity and making investment in generation infrastructure.
It is heartening to note that the KE CEO Moonis Alvi has appreciated the role of federal government in streamlining fuel supplies at a press conference yesterday where he also announced, among other things, that the power supply position is likely to be normalised within a week.
