KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Jinnah International Airport on Thursday recovered smuggled goods worth Rs 6.87 million from a passenger returned from the US.
According to details, the customs staff posted at the arrival hall of the airport intercepted a passenger Shahab Hussain, who returned from US via Etihad Airways flight.
On his refusal to have any dutiable or contraband goods in his possession, the passenger, who intended to move through the green channel, is diverted to the customs executive counter for inspection.
The customs staff during physical examination of its three suitcases and a hand carry bag recovered 45 mobile phones worth Rs 2.1 million, 295 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 2.49 million, 13,410 US dollars, cosmetics and food products.
Consequent upon recovery, he was taken into custody and a case has been registered against them. Further investigation is in progress after obtaining his remand from the court of law.
