KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 145,504 tonnes of cargo comprising 104,932 tonnes of import cargo and 40,572 tonnes of export cargo including 5,373 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 104,932 tonnes comprised of 43,167 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,615 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 41,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 40,572 tonnes comprised of 21,400 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of general cargo 9,102 tonnes of bulk cargo and 9,870 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,373 containers comprising of 3,031 containers of import and 2,342 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 711 of 20's and 1,118 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 42 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 512 of 20's and 532 of 40's loaded containers while 226 of 20's and 270 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely CSAV Tyndall, Edison, Botany Bay, Torm Splendid, Andria and Blue Alexandra carrying containers, oil tanker, soyabean and DAP respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessel carrying containers, oil tankers and meals respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 252,168 tonnes comprising of 204,022 tonnes of import cargo and 48,146 tonnes of export cargo including 3,964 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 204,022 tonnes includes 59,550 tonnes of coal; 51,852 tonnes of LNG; 29,000 tonnes of furnace oil; 17,000 tonnes of palm oil; 12,000 tonnes of soyabean; 1,282 tonnes of chemical; 3,600 tonnes of LPG; 2,568 tonnes of general cargo and 27,170 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 48,146 tonnes includes 48,146 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,964 containers comprising of 1,430 containers import and 2,534 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were four ships namely MOL Generosity, Maersk Columbus, MSC Asya and Fuwairit carrying containers and LNG respectively sail out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely PAC Antares, Josco Run Zhou and MS Sophie carrying steel coil, coal and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eleven vessels viz. Express Rome, Da Kang, Diamond Star, Energy Glory, Chemroad Hawk, FGC Perklis, Amber, APA Nemo, Gulf Horizon, Vinlage Rider and Asia Marine carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, gasoline, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. Express Rome, Hansa America, Diamond Star, Star Lotus, PGC Perklis, Gulf Horizon and Vinlage Rider carrying containers, coal, LPG, gas oil and palm kernel respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There are three ships namely MSC Noa, Hansa America and Star Lotus carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely Xiang Hong Kong carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
