LETTER: It is heartening to note that despite Covid-19 pandemic, the country managed to fetch a healthy Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during the last fiscal year (FY-19-20). During this period, FDI posted a notable increase of 88 percent during FY20 supported by sufficient investment inflows from China and Norway.
In my view, however, this development must not become a cause of breeding complacency among all those responsible for attracting foreign direct investment to the country. Investor confidence means investors' willingness to engage in investment opportunities based on their perception of risks and returns. More steps are needed to be taken to improve investors' perceptions about the safety of their investments and concomitant returns on them.
