KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 134,000 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,212 tonnes of import cargo and 54,788 tonnes of export cargo including 5,645 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 79,212 tonnes comprised of 32,326 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,897 tonnes of general cargo; 10,489 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 27,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 54,788 tonnes comprised of 27,036 tonnes of containerised cargo; 282 tonnes of general cargo and 27,470 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 5,645 containers comprising of 3,196 containers of import and 2,449 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 461 of 20's and 851 of 40's loaded while 447 of 20's and 293 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 771 of 20's and 436 of 40's loaded containers while 18 of 20's and 394 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Manet, Ever Decent and Velos Sapphire carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 214,529 tonnes comprising of import cargo including 1,900 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 214,529 tonnes includes 66,128 tonnes of coal; 40,833 tonnes of LNG; 35,000 tonnes of gas oil; 15,500 tonnes of palm oil; 12,800 tonnes of soyabean; 3,335 tonnes of palm kernel; 4,833 tonnes of LPG and 36,100 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,900 containers comprising of 1,900 containers import and nil containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There are five ships namely Sabrina-1, Pacific Talent, Gas Athena, Apa Nemo and Chem Ocean Orion carrying coal, LPG, gas oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen vessels viz. Le Li, Da Kang, Chayanee Naree, Green Witch Eagle, Energy Glory, Tiger Winter, Tomson Gas, Amber, Al-Soor-II, Gulf Horizon, MT Karachi, Mega-I and UACC Marah carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, soyabean, LPG, gasoline, gas oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Maersk Denver, Green Witch Eagle, Tiger Winter, Golar Ice, MT Karachi and Mega-I carrying containers, coal, chemical, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely MSC Meidi and Maersk Denver carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
