ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing liquefied natural gas (LNG) reference against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and others, on Wednesday, rejected a plea seeking to allow transfer of Abbasi's vehicle.

The Accountability Court judge, Muhammad Azam Khan, while announcing its reserved judgement, turned down an application filed by a citizen namely, Imran Khan, seeking transfer of Abbasi's vehicle purchased by him from the former premier.

The former prime minister had sold the car to a man named, Khan.

He informed the bureau after buying the vehicle.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had raised objections against the sale of Abbasi's car.

The NAB prosecutor told the court that the bureau was conducting investigation regarding Abbasi's properties and assets.

The NAB is also probing suspicious transaction of the accused ex-premier, he said, adding that during investigation, the properties owned by an accused could not be transferred to another person's name.

The lawyer, Sadia Abbasi, while arguing before the court, said that there was no financial corruption case against Abbasi.

Abbasi cannot go abroad as the government has placed his name on the exit control list (ECL) on the recommendations of the NAB, she said, adding that the former premier has been nominated by the present government for highest paying tax award.

She requested the court to allow transfer of Abbasi's vehicle.

The court reserved verdict after completion of arguments.

Meanwhile, the anti-graft watchdog body has frozen the moveable and immovable assets of Khaqan Abbasi, and former finance minister Miftah Ismail.

After freezing of assets of both the PML-N leaders, they will not be able to transfer ownership of vehicles and property.
