LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to execute the LDA City Apartments project at the earliest. He expressed these views during a meeting with LDA Vice Chairman S. M. Imran held through a video-link here on Thursday.
While briefing the Prime Minister, the LDA Vice Chairman said that 35,000 residential apartments would be constructed on 8,500 kanals of land in the LDA City. "In the first phase, 4,000 apartments will be constructed on 800 kanals of land. Due to its proximity to Ring Road and LDA City, this is a great location. Apartments of five different categories will be constructed with an area ranging from 650 square feet to 2200 square feet," he added.
According to him, these apartments are targeted to be completed in a period of two and a half to three years. The prices of these apartments will be affordable for the LDA and other government employees and low-income earners. The support of banks and other financial institutions will be sought to enable employees to pay for the flats on easy instalments. Those who buy these apartments will also be given a relief of Rs 300,000 under the Prime Minister's package.
"The LDA will also build flats in Sheikhupura, Nankana and Kasur, which will encourage construction of multistory buildings which will also benefit the residents of Lahore's adjoining districts," he added.
