KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 122,941 tonnes of cargo comprising 88,324 tonnes of import cargo and 34,617 tonnes of export cargo including 5,793 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 88,324 tonnes comprised of 46,115 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,822 tonnes of general cargo; 7,233 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 29,154 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 34,617 tonnes comprised of 19,652 tonnes of containerised cargo and 14,965 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 5,793 containers comprising of 3,338 containers of import and 2,455 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 896 of 20's and 1,174 of 40's loaded while 48 of 20's and 23 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 535 of 20's and 348 of 40's loaded containers while 486 of 20's and 369 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Saxonia, Bomar Milione, CMA CGM Moliere, Bow Flower and Wanya Naree carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 97,176 tonnes comprising of 75,326 tonnes of import cargo and 21,850 tonnes of export cargo including 2,518 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 75,326 tonnes includes 23,725 tonnes of coal; 702 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,507 tonnes of palm oil; 3,732 tonnes of palm kernel; 11,057 tonnes of soyabean; 1,611 tonnes of LPG and 25,992 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,850 tonnes includes 21,850 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,518 containers comprising of 1,368 containers import and 1,150 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely Sabrina-1, IVS Windsor and Tomson Gas carrying coal and LPG respectively sail out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely Athenian carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Moliere, Silver Lucky, Le Li, Da Kang, Chayanee Naree, Green Witch Eagle, White Fin, Gulf Mist, Gas Amazon, Aa-Areesh, Al-Soor-II, Al-Salam-II and Gulf Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, LNG and gas oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. CMA CGM Moliere, Maersk Brooklyn, Da Kang, Green Witch Eagle and Gulf Mist carrying containers, general cargo, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday. There was one ship namely Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely Safmarine Ngami, Diyala and Gwon carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
