KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Chief Senator Chief Sirajul Haq held Indian proxies responsible for carrying out terrorist activity during Kashmir rally in Karachi that left nearly three dozens injured.

Police and JI officials said the incident occurred when the 'Youm-i-Istehsal' rally that was passing through the Baitul Mukarram mosque when two unidentified men riding a motorcycle threw a cracker from the opposite side of the road, and fled the scene, leaving at least 30 persons injured and causing fear and panic among the participants of the rally.

The rally was being held Wednesday to condemn the Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and to mark one-year anniversary of abrogation of Article-370 that provided special status to the occupied Kashmir on August 5,.

The Bomb Disposal Squad of the Sindh Police confirmed the incident as a cracker attack.

JI Chief Sirajul Haq took to twitter, condemning the attack and calling it a cowardly act of Indian agents who he believes, are still present in Karachi.

"Leadership and workers of JI Karachi are brave and their passion is remarkable. Karachi is the heart of Muslim world. It has always resonated voices of oppressed Muslims from Palestine to Kashmir. The attack on JI Kashmir rally in Karachi is deplorable & coward act. It shows that Indian proxies are still operating, trying to sabotage our solidarity with Kashmir. We will not be threatened by these attacks & will continue to support the freedom struggle of Kashmiri brothers," he said

Chief of JI's Karachi chapter Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also strongly condemned the incident, and blame the Indian spy agency - RAW for this attack. He said details regarding the party's future course of action would be shared soon.

Meeran Yousuf, the media coordinator to Sindh health minister, took to twitter and confirmed 10 injured who according to her, have been transferred to hospitals and all of them were in stable condition.

SSP Karachi East Sajid Amir Saddozai said that unidentified motorcycle riders hurled a 'cracker' at the participants of the rally near Bait-ul-Mukaram mosque on University Road.

The injured have been identified as Habibullah Feroz Khan, Anwar Khorsheed, Abdul Ahsan, Muhamamd Maqsood, Shoukat Rehmani, Muhammad Dawood, Nurul Haq, Zahid Mubeen, Shaikh Majid, Muhammad Omar, Habib, Riyasat, Nizamuddin, Ayub, Abdul Hameed, Muhammad Ahmad, Umair Ahmad Siddiqui, and Naaz. They were rushed to private hospitals at Stadium Road and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment. Names of other injured could not be ascertained till filing of this report.

Taking notice of the incident, Sindh IGP Mushtaq Mehar sought a detailed report from the SSP. Meanwhile rallies, seminars, conferences and walks were also organized by political parties, civil society, government, private, and human right organizations in the metropolis to mark the one-year anniversary of the abrogation of Article-370 by Modi regime that provided special status to the occupied Kashmir.
