LAHORE: An accountability court on Thursday indicted President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif and leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz in Ramzan Sugar Mills reference. Both the accused present in the court pleaded for not guilty in the reference and their lawyers sought time to prepare the case but court rejected their request.
Earlier special prosecutor requested the court inducting both the accused as their counsel had nothing to say more about the reference. He also said the court during the previous hearing had fixed the date for indictment.
However the counsel of Shahbaz Sharif sough time to submit their submissions. The court rejecting their request said today was fixed for indictment and court was ready to hear them at length. But the indictment will be made today.
Shehbaz Sharif told the presiding judge that he is being dragged into fake case as he always worked with honesty and served the people of Punjab. I didn't take salary and even money for petrol for 12 years. I brought investment to the Pakistan for economic stability, Shahbaz added.
