LETTER: This is apropos a Business Recorder op-ed "China's growth" carried by the newspaper yesterday. The writer, Li Bijian, who is China's consul general to Karachi, has thrown ample light on the resilience of his country's economy in a fascinating manner. No doubt, the Chinese nation, including the Communist Party of China and Comrade Xi Jinping, deserve commendation for successfully coordinating the promotion of pandemic prevention and control and economic and social development in a country where Covid-19 situation continues to improve while the work productivity accelerates. The writer has argued, among other things, that "Being the world's second largest economy and the largest consumption market, the positive growth of China's economy serves to stabilize and inject vitality into the world economic recovery." I fully endorse his assertion or observation. The world must not lose sight of the fact that it was China that played a key role in retrieving a battered and bruised global economy following the 2008 financial meltdown.
