LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has stated on Monday that the government has overcome the challenge of Covid-19 and now almost all activities have returned to normal level in the province.
While talking to the media, here, the CM paid tributes to all those who served during Covid-19 pandemic.
"Punjab has retained the pre-corona position which is very good news. Timely anti-corona steps were taken and the administration worked day and night to yield positive results. We remained safe from the expected Covid-19 related losses and all activities have been restored today except educational institutions and holding of big congregations," the CM said.
Buzdar criticized the opposition for hatching conspiracies and said after some time an organized propaganda is initiated against us which aims at creating instability and bring halt in the process of governance within the province. He said they (opposition) also create obstacles in the way of providing relief to the masses and such false news spread by those elements who do not want to see progress.
Answering a query about Monson rains, the CM said he has directed WASA and administration for early disposal of rainwater from low-lying areas. No leniency will be tolerated and removal of water should be done as soon as possible by utilizing all-out resources, he added.
To another query, he said the government will make best possible arrangement for Muharram, but asked the people to strictly follow SOPs to prevent spread of novel coronavirus.
When asked about price hike, Usman Buzdar said he is personally monitoring rising prices of commodities.
Answering a question about NAB summon, the CM said he will appear in person and does not need any procession to accompany him.
Earlier, the CM while chairing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law & Order at Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA), directed foolproof security arrangements for the protection of life & property of the people in Muharram-ul-Haram.
The meeting also decided to initiate indiscriminate crackdown against elements spreading sectarianism through social media. The CM directed to take action against those responsible for sectarianism and confiscate the literature spreading religious hatred.
The CM directed that security arrangements of religious congregations and processions be completed in advance and encroachments be removed on their routes. He also directed to activate the paraphernalia of peace committees and added that implementation on precautionary measures for overcoming corona be ensured during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The CM stated that public representatives should play their active role in the promotion of religious harmony. Similarly, provincial ministers will be assigned duties to review security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram and inter-fait harmony will be promoted at every level.
ACS (Home), IG Police and others briefed about the security plan of Muharram ul Haram. Provincial Ministers Raja Basharat, Muhammad Taimoor Khan Bhatti, Hashim Dogar, Ansar Majeed Khan Niazi, Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, Chief Secretary and others attended the meeting.
Moreover, the CM has strongly condemned the blast at Mall Road area of Chaman city in Balochistan province and expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the loss of precious human lives.
