KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 77,595 tonnes of cargo comprising 67,004 tonnes of import cargo and 10,591 tonnes of export cargo including 3,603 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 67,004 tonnes comprised of 34,339 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,938 tonnes of general cargo; 6,227 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 7,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 10,591 tonnes comprised of 4,521 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,070 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 3,603 containers comprising of 2,685 containers of import and 918 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 559 of 20's and 963 of 40's loaded while 84 of 20's and 58 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 93 of 20's and 77 of 40's loaded containers while 163 of 20's and 254 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Cosco Aden, Diyala, Alpine Persefone and COS Lucky carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 138,068 tonnes comprising of 120,018 tonnes of import cargo and 18,050 tonnes of export cargo including 2,538 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 120,018 tonnes includes 15,462 tonnes of LNG; 25,730 tonnes of coal; 6,658 tonnes of palm oil; 17,329 tonnes of mogas; 8,724 tonnes of canola; 16,000 tonnes of chemical and 30,115 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,050 tonnes includes 18,050 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,538 containers comprising of 1,588 containers import and 950 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely Till Jacob and Navig-8 Gallantry carrying mogas and palm oil respectively sail out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Jeanne, Bora and Colar Crystal carrying containers, canola and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, canola, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve vessels viz. MSC Tomoko, JBO Sapphire, African Baza, Kamari, Navig-8 Aventurine, Gas Zeus, Tomson Gas, Sovereign, Al-Soor-II, Four Sky, MT Karachi and Torm Helnig carrying containers, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, gasoline, gas oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MSC Tomoko, Maersk Sentosa, MT Karachi and Torm Helnig carrying containers, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Sentosa carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
