KARACHI: Model Custom Collectorate (MCC), Quetta Wednesday claimed to have seized substantial quantity of betel nuts at Lakpass Checkpost.
Action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that some unscrupulous persons were transporting substantial quantity of betel nuts from Quetta to different parts of the country.
Reacting on this information, the team of MCC Quetta mounted stiff vigilance at all the exit points.
As a result, a 22-wheeler trailer bearing Registration no TKX-995 was intercepted at Lakpass Checkpost in Quetta. The staff of MCC, Quetta after thorough examination recovered 20 tons of betel nuts. The market value of seized betel nuts including vehicle is estimated to Rs.55 million, approximately.
Consequent upon recovery, no person has been arrested and case is being registered. Further investigation is in progress.
