HAMBURG: A group of flour mills in Pakistan has bought around 60,000 tonnes of wheat recently, which is expected to be sourced from the Black Sea region, as purchasing for imports by the South Asian nation increases, European traders said on Friday.
Pakistan's government had permitted private sector wheat imports in June to cool domestic wheat and flour prices. The latest wheat purchase was made at around $227 c&f free out for shipment in September, traders said.
The deal brings reported private sector wheat import buying in Pakistan to around 420,000 tonnes following previous purchases of 360,000 tonnes reported in July and August. A government agency in Pakistan has also issued an international tender to buy and import 1.5 million tonnes of wheat.
