ISLAMABAD: A signing ceremony of memorandum of understanding (MoU) was held at Republic of Korea between Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Islamabad and Rural Development Administration (RDA), Korea. The documents were duly endorsed with the signatures of Ambassador of Pakistan Mumtaz Zahra Baloch and the RDA Administrator Kim Kyeong-kyuon 06 August.
Omar Hamid, Secretary MNFSR, coordinated this coordination for promotion of R&D in agriculture. He informed, with signing this MoU, both parties will jointly explore and coordinate in the development and extension of agricultural technologies through establishing the Pakistan Centre of RDA's Korea Programme International Agriculture (KOPIA Pakistan Centre), in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Chairman PARC, Dr Azeem Khan informed that PARC as the host organisation of KOPIA Pakistan Centre would ensure the availability of office space, laboratories, equipment, scientific, technological and administrative assistance which may be required for the Centre's work, while RDA as the establisher of KOPIA Pakistan Centre would provide financial assistance in implementation of projects.
He further added that the Centre's cooperative projects related to agriculture and livestock will not only increase the incomes of small farm-holders by improving their agricultural productivity but also provide assistance in training of Pakistan researchers, extension agents, community organizations and farmers at the RDA in Korea or at the Centre in Pakistan.
