ISLAMABAD: The activists of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday staged a protest demonstration outside the Indian High Commission to mark India's Independence Day as 'Black Day'.

The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans such as 'people of Jammu and Kashmir are observing black day (August 15)', 'Kashmir will resist and Kashmir will exist', 'India killing people, strengthening occupation', 'implementation of UN resolution only solution to Jammu Kashmir dispute', and 'India should not be allowed to change demography through the barrel of the gun'.

A heavy contingent of police was deployed on the occasion, in order to avert any untoward incident.

The protesters expressed concern over the unabated wave of killings by the Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and warned New Delhi against the use of brutal tactics to crush the Kashmiris' freedom movement.

They urged the international community to take notice of Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and impress upon New Delhi to stop night raids and arrest of Hurriyat leaders and activists.

The protest was lead by Muhammad Hussain Khataib, convener APHC and also attended by Manzoorul Haq, Shamim Shaal, Uzam Gul, Fida Hussain Kayani, Rasheed Kazmi, and others.

Rasheed Shah said that today Kashmiri people across the world are observing black day. The present government should effectively advocate the cause of Kashmir, he said, adding that the government of the day should champion this case before the world. Pakistani people will continue to support Kashmiri brothers till they get freedom, he said.

Another leader Mushtaq said that India was a terrorist country. We will not leave our Kashmiri brothers alone, he said.
