Administrator Karachi to be appointed with consultation of all parties: mayor
KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Monday said that after completion of local bodies tenure, Administrator Karachi would be appointed with consultation of all political parties. A competent government officer would be appointed as a new Administrator Karachi. Prime Minister Imran Khan tasked National Disaster Management Authority and Core V for cleanliness of drains. A committee comprising members of each party would be formed to resolve issues of Karachi.
The Mayor passed these remarks after inaugurating newly constructed two-Kilometre road at Nazimabad Block M. Chairman District Central Rehan Hashmi, Chairman Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's Works Committee Hassan Naqvi and other officials were also present on the occasion.
He said that Centre, Sindh government and Mayor Karachi are stakeholder of the city, adding that committees formed to resolve issues of the city. "Resolution of city's problems lies in empowered local government system. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has submitted its report regarding empowerment of local bodies but we will submit our report soon," he added.
The Mayor added that he had talked about issues of Karachi including water scarcity, lack of transport and garbage lifting system during the meeting held earlier and attended by the representatives of federal and provincial governments as well. He said that the miseries of the citizens could decrease to certain degree if these issues are resolved.
