KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 199,418 tonnes of cargo comprising 134,283 tonnes of import cargo and 65,135 tonnes of export cargo including 3,709 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 134,283 tonnes comprised of 32,788 tonnes of containerised cargo; 04 tonnes of bulk cargo; 9,477 tonnes of soyabean; 9,872 tonnes of DAP and 82,142 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 65,135 tonnes comprised of 36,222 tonnes of containerised cargo and 28,913 tonnes of clinkers. As many as 3,709 containers comprising of 1,208 containers of import and 2,501 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 621 of 20's and 238 of 40's loaded while 75 of 20's and 18 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 343 of 20's and 266 of 40's loaded containers while 814 of 20's and 406 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely Nordspring, MOL Grandeur, OOCL California, Wan Hai-613, MT Quetta, Saehan Intrasia, Navig-8 Sceptrum, UM Elhanaya and Bow Diamond carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. Hyundai Privilage, Esperanza, Thor Sky, MT Quetta, Green Belt, Saehan Intrasia, Gren Phoenix, Grace and Bow Diamond carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Esperanza carrying containers expected to sail on Monday while another ship namely Green Belt carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday. There are six vessels viz. CMA CGM Lamartine, Xin Qing Dao, Xasonia, MT Lahore, Tabernacle Prince and Ocean Star carrying containers, oil tanker, cement and mill scale respectively due to arrive on Monday while three more vessels viz. Carl Schulte, Al Mahboobah and Snow Ploeg carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 162,814 tonnes comprising of 121,497 tonnes of import cargo and 41,317 tonnes of export cargo including 2,096 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 121,497 tonnes includes 2,500 tonnes of gas oil; 75,028 tonnes of coal; 14,000 tonnes of palm oil; 14,097 tonnes of soyabean; 4,214 tonnes of LNG; 500 tonnes of LPG; 3,900 tonnes of chemical and 7,258 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 41,317 tonnes includes 8,751 tonnes of cement and 32,566 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,246 containers comprising of 1,283 containers import and 1,963 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were four ships namely Conti Courage, Maersk Bogar, Darya Tina and Blue Sky carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively sail out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely Suak and Gas Zues carrying coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Bulk Friendship, Rhopos, Tron Gan, Kamari, Al Mahboobah, Sovereign, BW Colombia, Al-Salam-II and ES Star carrying coal, cement, chemical, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. ER Tianshan, Beksh Halul, Tron Gan and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, coal, cement and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday.

There was one ship namely ER Tianshan carrying containers due to arrive on Monday. There is one ship namely Maersk Seletar carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
