ISLAMABAD: Around 54 percent of the people are rating either bad or very bad performance by Prime Minister Imran Khan during the last two years against 38 percent who showed satisfaction with his leadership.
This has been revealed in survey done by the Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR) based on people's perception on two year performance of Prime Minister Imran Khan on general issue such as inflation, unemployment, and poverty etc.
According to the survey, 40 percent respondents are predicting that the performance of the government will get worse in the next three years, while 31 per cent are still hopeful.
The PTI has lost its popularity for 8 percent percentage points, but PML-N has gained only 4 percent since the elections of 2018.
Whereas PPP rating is steady at 11 percent, according to the survey.
Despite all the negatives, 44 percent are still willing to let the current government complete its five year term, while 29 percent want immediate fresh elections and only eight percent are in favor of any in-house change.
About 28 percent expressed confidence that Pakistan Muslim League-N's Shehbaz Sharif can resolve the challenges.
Among the rest, 23 percent perceived as Imran Khan capable of steering the country clear of the issues, 8 percent sided with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
While 11 percent said none of the existing leaders are capable.
Although the PML-N staying ahead in the popularity with 28 percent support comparing with the PTI with 24 percent and PPP with 11 percent. Talking about the methodology, it has been stated that 54 percent sample has been collected from Punjab, 23 percent from Sindh, 17 percent from KP and GB 6 percent.
Five bad outcomes of present government, the survey identified increased inflation, unemployment increased, bad cabinet members, corruption, and u-turns.
A majority of respondents are satisfied overall with the government's handling of the coronavirus outbreak.
Around 47 percent said they are satisfied with the federal government's COVID-19 response, while 37 percent thought it left much to be desired.
The rest gave a mixed opinion on the matter.
As many as 51 percent provided positive feedback for the government's handling, whereas 42 percent felt negatively about it.
The remaining 7 percent did not respond to the question.
As far as provincial performance goes, respondents to the surveys gave a 31 percent disapproval rating to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 39 percent to Punjab, 41 percent to Sindh, and 45 percent to Balochistan.
The poll overall found that 63 percent were unhappy with the budget for Financial Year 2020-21, finding it inadequate and one that did not offer any relief.
To a query regarding knowing someone contracting the virus, 46 percent said they knew someone personally who had contracted the disease, while a majority 54 percent said they did not know anyone personally to have caught it.
To a question regarding political party offered the best help to the public, 28 percent of respondents found PTI, 16 percent found Jamaat-e-Islami, 10 percent found PPP and 10 percent found PML-N to be helpful during the lock down.
Eight percent responded by saying they had found NGOs and private institutes to have helped the people during the crisis.
However, 44 percent were of the view no one offered any help to anyone.
On economic impacts, 93 percent felt lockdowns had increased unemployment, whereas the remaining 7 percent did not see that to be the case.
Similarly, 93 percent felt their jobs were vulnerable to economic shocks, while 7 percent did not feel their jobs are endangered.
Among the respondents, 67 percent reported seeking financial assistance during the lockdowns, while 33 percent denied having done so.
On the reopening of schools, 77 percent of the people were in favour of the move, 18 percent expressed concerns and 5 percent did not respond.
About 80 percent responded positively about sending their children to school, 16 percent refused to do so and 4 percent chose not to respond
Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR) releases survey on the two year performance of PTI government.
The survey report is based on the opinions of 2,024 respondents who were interviewed from August 3-13, 2020.
Majority (63%) of the respondents were under the age of 40, in which respondents between the age of 18 and 25 made up 14 percent of the total and 26-40 were 49% while, those between 41 and 50 made up 22%, and those above 50 were 15 percent of the total. Error Margin +/-2.18 percent, Confidence Level will be 95 percent for national results.
