LAHORE: Punjab has recorded as many as 164 fresh coronavirus cases and three deaths during the past 24 hours, according to the government's Covid-19 portal.

The total number of cases in Punjab is now 95,611, while 2,185 people have died from the virus so far. As many as, 163 more coronavirus patients have been recovered taking the tally of recovered patients to 88,861 in the province. During the last 24 hours, 5,641 corona tests were conducted in the province.

As per data regarding age distribution of Covid-19 cases in Punjab, out of total 95,611 positive cases, the people with age group of 31-45 years are worst effectees with total number of 27,643 followed by age group between 16-30 years with figure of 25,396. As many as 18,886 people with age group of 46-60 were tested positive of the virus followed by age group of 61-75 years with the figure of 9236. Only 1650 people with age group above 75 years were tested positive of Covid-19. In the age group of 1-15 years, 4209 were tested positive in the province.

As per data, about 1100 healthcare workers have so far been tested positive of coronavirus out of 4756 whose tests were conducted.

In another positive development, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has given a nod to holding clinical trial of Covid-19 vaccine in the country.

As many as 200 volunteers from Karachi, representing various ethnic groups, have been registered.
