ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has said it will not accept the partition of Sindh under any circumstances, and those who dream of occupying Karachi will be humiliated.

"Neither the federal government nor anyone has the authority to divide Sindh. Sindh was the builder and protector of Pakistan. We will not tolerate any conspiracy against Sindh. The current government is trying to break up the country," the PPP leaders expressed these views, while addressing the party workers' protest outside the National Press Club here on Wednesday.

The protest was staged by PPP Islamabad District in which Party Information Secretary Dr Nafisa Shah, Senator Aajez Dhamra, Faisal Karim Kundi, Parliamentary Leader Punjab Hassan Murtaza, Chaudhry Iftikhar Nargis Faiz Malik, Nazir Dhoki, Nawabzada Iftikhar, Javed Ayub, Bazal Naqvi, Shaheen Kausar Dar, Sibtul Hassan Bukhari, Shakeel Abbasi, Shafqat Abbasi, Sajjad Ali Mangi, Iftikhar Shahzada, President Murtaza, Nada Nazir Sohail Zaami, Khalid Dar, Zubeida Rai and others participated in the protest.

Addressing the protest, Nafisa Shah said that "today, we have gathered for a token protest."

She said PPP had given great leaders to Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed and Benazir Bhutto, martyrs who had given their lives to save the Federation.

She said Sindh was the first to pass a resolution for Pakistan. Sindh was, and will be the builder of Pakistan, she said.

She said PPP was the representative party of the federation, and they would not tolerate any conspiracy against Sindh or the federation.

On the occasion, PPP leader Senator Aajiz Dhamrah said that "today's protest is not unconstitutional but the government is talking unconstitutionally regarding Karachi." "MQM had also talked about the division of Sindh government. It should be a shame, the federal government or anyone else has no authority to divide Sindh," he said.

On the occasion, former deputy speaker Faisal Karim Kundi said PPP founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had given a constitution to this country, and the present government is trying to break Pakistan but the PPP will strengthen the federation and those who break Pakistan will fail.

Hassan Murtaza said that "we condemn the atrocities committed against Sindh."

"If the government violates any unit, it will weaken the federation and the PPP condemns the efforts to weaken the federation. The PPP leaders always talk about strengthening the federation," he said.

"If the government tries to repeal the 18th Amendment, we will protest," Iftikhar said.
