LAHORE: At least four members of a family including a minor boy died while 11 others were injured, some of them critically, after roof of their dilapidated house collapsed due to heavy rain in Hurbanspura locality in the wee hours of Wednesday, rescuers and police said.
According to Rescue 1122, the rescuers rescued a total of 15 people, including four children, from the debris of the house in Ibrahim Colony of Hurbanspura. They said the house, owned by one Habib Ullah, was in dilapidated condition and it could not sustain the weight of stagnant rainwater on its roof. However, the relatives of the deceased said the boundary-wall of an adjacent under-construction building fell onto the roof first which resulted in the deaths and damage to the house.
Those who lost their lives were identified as Kamran Khan, Sabir Khan, Aslam Khan and Azam Khan while Sohail, Qubra Bibi, Fatima (minor), Farida Bibi and owner Habib Ullah sustained injuries and were being treated at a hospital. Police said the dead bodies have been handed over to their relatives after completion of medico-legal formalities and further looking into the incident.
