KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Thursday condemned the creation of new district in Karachi Division on what it believed 'political and ethnic basis'.
MQM-P's Coordination Committee in a statement accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of always dividing Pakistan, Sindh and Karachi on ethnic lines. "From East Pakistan debacle to quota system in Sindh and creation of Malir District and now carving out Kemari district reflect the biased policy of PPP," MQM-P stated.
Party blamed that PPP's feudal government in Sindh didn't consult the elected representatives of Urban Sindh and Karachi on legislation and ignored the recommendations of elected people of these areas.
MQM-P believed that local government institutions in Karachi have been paralysed through creation of six districts and now a new district Kemari has been carved out to ensure the political hold of PPP.
