The Lahore High Court here on Tuesday accepting apology of Joint Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs, dropped contempt of court proceedings against him. Joint Secretary Sher Ali had used contemptuous language in his reply in contempt petitions against the Ministry about allotment of Haj quota.
The Chief Justice therefore issued him show cause notice. Sher Ali however contended before the court that he had no intent to defame or ridicule the court. He submitted that he did not seek to justify the words and tenders his unconditional apology and submits himself at the mercy of the court for using the said words in his written reply. He tendered his unconditional apology and left himself at the mercy of the court. CJ accepted his apology and discharged show-cause notice.
