LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said on Monday that the provincial government conducted random sampling of 60,000 people in the 20 days after Eidul Azha, of which only 57 people or 0.16 per cent tested positive. In a tweet, the CM advised the citizens to continue taking precautions. "In this situation, we should continue taking precautions so the virus does not spread again," he said.
Sources disclosed that the health department has started the random testing of the vulnerable population including healthcare workers across the province for coronavirus in an effort to increase the number of tests and know about the prevalence of the infection. Officials were randomly collecting swabs from people working in markets, shopping malls, hotels and tourist places for free Covid-19 testing.
Moreover, out of 8,549 tests conducted during the last 24 hours, only 55 were tested positive of coronavirus taking the tally to 96,233. With recovery of 11 more from Covid-19, the total number of recovered patients in the province has reached to 91,161.
