KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 236,010 tonnes of cargo comprising 139,393 tonnes of import cargo and 96,617 tonnes of export cargo including 3,526 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 139,393 tonnes comprised of 67,226 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,584 tonnes of steel scrap; 10,752 tonnes of DAP; 777 tonnes of soyabean; 7,037 tonnes of rock phosphate and 43,017 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 96,617 tonnes comprised of 45,400 tonnes of containerised cargo 40,667 tonnes of clinkers; 7,000 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 3,550 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,526 containers comprising of 1,350 containers of import and 2,176 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 588 of 20's and 282 of 40's loaded while 178 of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 548 of 20's and 110 of 40's loaded containers while 530 of 20's and 439 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely Cosco Hellas, MSC Cheryl-3, Norther dexterity, MOL Generosity, Hyundai Colombo, As Roberta, Lilac Ray, Al Mahboobah, Boliche and Han De carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, soyabean and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were nine vessels viz. Kota Nekad, Memphis, Hyundai Colombo, As Roberta, Rdo Fortune, NACC Poros, Valentine, Chemtrans Adriate and Captain Karam carrying containers, oil tanker, cement, chemical and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely Kota Nekad, Memphis, NACC Poros and Valentine carrying containers, cement and chemical expected to sail on Monday. There are five vessels viz. Botany Bay, Berlin Express, Kapitan Mislov, Chemroute Sun and Mouton carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively due to arrive on Monday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 176,341 tonnes comprising of 161,122 tonnes of import cargo and 15,219 tonnes of export cargo including 1,269 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 161,122 tonnes includes 18,861 tonnes of gasoline; 50,200 tonnes of coal; 48,574 tonnes of LNG; 6,500 tonnes of palm oil; 2,515 tonnes of palm kernel; 10,000 tonnes of canola; 15,580 tonnes of chemical and 8,892 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 15,219 tonnes includes 15,219 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,269 containers comprising of 468 containers import and 801 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were three ships namely MSC Chery, Sea Melody and Methane Rita Andrer carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively sail out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely BW Colombia carrying gasoline respectively is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola, mogas, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. Han Hui, King Cotton, Huang Song, Diamond Star, Bacco, Emden-IV, Kamari, Ithacki, Chemroad Polris, Gas Amazon, Sereno, Al-Salam-II and Sea Hazel carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and crude oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MSC Lisbon, MSC Jessenia-R, Diyala and Al-Salam-II carrying containers and gas oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were three ships namely MSC Lisbon, MSC Jessenia-R and Diyala carrying containers due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely Maersk Chicago and Express Athens carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
