Heavy rain continued to lash Karachi for third consecutive day flooding roads and depriving several areas of electricity.
On Thursday, the port city again woke up to rainfall, with Saddar, M.A Jinnah Road, Nursery, Baloch Colony, Site Area, Malir, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, receiving heavy showers. Since Monday, several streets and homes in the port city have been flooded with sewage water, causing further misery to the residents.
The Sindh government has already declared a rain emergency in the province. According to the official statement, the leaves of all government department employees have been cancelled and those who are already on leave have been asked to report to their relevant department at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds in several districts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Islamabad during the next 12 hours.
